Exact reprint of 1961 Dujarie Press printing. Jean Francois Millet was born in 1814 in Gruchy, France. As a peasant boy, he spent much time in the fields working on the family farm. It was his grandmother who first recognized his great artistic talent. With the help of their parish priest, Millet was sent to Paris to study painting. Millet struggled to earn enought money, but he had the determination to fight on and to use the great talents God had given him. Today, many of his paintings hang in the Louvre, including his most famous painting, "The Angelus." Reading this story can encourage us to follow in the footsteps of Jean Francois Millet, who persevered despite hardship and used his talents to bring glory to God.
