At the age of fourteen, she received the name Sister Marie-Leonie when she entered the Marianites of the Holy Cross. She took her final vows in 1857. Later, she was called Mother Leonie when she founded a new religious order, the Little Sisters of the Holy Family. The Sisters of this new order devoted themselves to domestic service, attending to th household needs of clergy and seminarians. Reading this story can encourage us to follow in the footsteps of Blessed Marie-Leonie, who humbly served God and devoted herself to helping others by completing daily housekeeping tasks.
