Our Lady Comes to New Orleans
In 1810, Mother Mary St. Michel came from France to the Ursuline Sisters in New Orleans, Louisiana, bringing with her a statue of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Later, when a fire was raging in the city, one of the Sisters asked Our Lady of Prompt Succor for her intercession. Immediately, the wind changed direction and the convent was saved! ! In 1815, before the Battle of New Orleans, the Sisters prayed all night. After an amazing victory the next day, General Andrew Jackson said, "The unerring hand of Providence shielded my men!"
